Laurent Kurtz

Partner - Head of the patents administration department

Laurent Kurtz is a French and European Patent Attorney and holds a Master’s in Chemistry from Louis Pasteur University (Strasbourg).

Further to his military service in the Intellectual Property Bureau of the Directorate General of Armaments, he joined Santarelli in 1992 and since 2003 has been head of the Patent Administration Department handling administrative procedures relative to filings, examination, grant, validation and renewal procedures, both in France and abroad.

The Filing-Procedures team is managed by two deputy managers, Isabelle Alibouche and Karine Darmon, the renewals team and the “Validation” of foreign patents are managed by Véronique Edmond.

Also included in the department is a draftsman specialized in technical drawing and a bilingual translator, who are at the service of the firm as a whole.

In addition to his daily management tasks, Laurent also participates in establishing rules of procedure and in interdisciplinary projects, and also provides strategic advice for the firm’s clients.

He moreover manages client portfolios, both in terms of acquiring rights and in their defense, and operates in fields as diverse as materials science, mechanics, hydraulics and optics.

Laurent Kurtz is also a member of the IP Valuation Committee of the Licensing Executives Society in France.
